Nearly 10,000 common cranes stop over in Xinjiang during migration
01:04

Nearly 10,000 common cranes, a significant increase compared with previous years, were captured stopping over in northwest China's Xinjiang during their migration. Cocoa Suri Wetland Park in Fuyun County, covering over 3,000 hectares, is an important habitat for birds to stop over during their migration.

In recent years, Fuyun has strengthened the ecological management of the waters around the Cocoa Suri wetlands, intensified the restoration and protection of pasture vegetation around the wetlands, and prohibited excessive numbers of cattle and sheep from entering the pasture. With the continuous improvement of the ecological environment, the number of wild birds, such as common cranes and shelducks, has increased significantly.
