The plateau pika is the most common species in the Hoh Xil region of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Unfortunately, the degeneration of meadows is threatening their numbers, and there are no other suitable food resources for them to turn to. As a vital link in the food chain, their survival could determine the fate of an entire ecosystem.
