China and Norway need to strengthen mutually-beneficial cooperation and promote trade liberalization and facilitation, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang said on Thursday.

In a meeting with representatives of the Norwegian business community in Oslo, Qin mentioned both China and Norway are supporters and participants of economic globalization, and both oppose protectionism, decoupling and disruption of industrial and supply chains.

He reaffirmed China's commitment to opening-up and high-quality development, saying China seeks mutual benefit and is committed to providing a better business environment to businesses from all countries.

Chinese economy, with strong resilience, will achieve stable, healthy and sustainable development and continue to be the powerhouse of the world economy, Qin added.

Stressing Chinese modernization is a modernization of common prosperity for all, Qin pointed out Chinese modernization will not only enable the Chinese people to live a good life, but also provide a larger market and more opportunities for all countries.

Chinese modernization is also the modernization of harmony between humanity and nature, Qin said, and highlighted the need for Sino-Norwegian cooperation in the areas of green and low-carbon spaces.

Representatives from the Norwegian business community said that China is an important market and trade partner for Norwegian companies, adding they are willing to further deepen their cooperation with China.

The strengthening of dialogue and communication between the two governments and the business community is conducive to enhancing understanding and expanding areas of cooperation, they added.

Qin also listened to the views and suggestions of business representatives on strengthening bilateral economic and trade cooperation, and answered questions on the Ukraine crisis, green transformation, intellectual property protection, and China-U.S. relations.
