Ningbo, a city in east China's Zhejiang Province, lies in the middle section of the coastline of China and the southern wing of the Yangtze River Delta. It has been hailed as a "city of culture" and a "gateway to the world".
The city is known for being a major port and industrial hub. It has a strong advanced manufacturing industrial cluster, which has profitable enterprises in green petrochemical, automobile manufacturing, and high-end equipment production, as well as textile and garment manufacturing.
As the busiest of its kind in China, Ningbo Zhoushan Port saw its cargo throughput exceed 1.25 billion tonnes in 2022, ranking first globally for the 14th consecutive year, according to the port. The port's container throughput hit 33.35 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) last year, ranking third in the world.
Now, Ningbo is constantly innovating and reforming to accelerate the construction of a modern coastal metropolis in high-quality development.
