Kazakh president on summit: 'My expectations are high'
01:50

China and the Central Asian region share a long-standing friendship with profound historical roots. The first China-Central Asia Summit is about to kick off in Xian, and cooperation between China and the five Central Asian countries is entering a new stage. In his exclusive interview with CGTN anchor Wang Guan, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expresses high expectations for the summit, as "China is playing an increasingly important role in Central Asia." He believes that the leaders of other Central Asian countries share similar perspectives. Regarding whether deepening exchanges between the two sides would lead to a so-called "impact" on regional geopolitics, Tokayev believes there is no need for such concerns as long as "our intentions are open and sincere."
