May 13th marks this year's first World Migratory Bird Day. Earlier this year, China's National Forestry and Grassland Administration issued an action plan for 2021-2035, designating 1,140 places as important for the resting, breeding and wintering of migratory birds. These places are recommended to monitor and investigate important migratory birds, as well as protect and restore the environment of the flyways, to make sure the birds have safe journeys.
The Yellow River Delta in east China's Shandong Province boasts the largest and most complete wetland ecosystem in China's warm temperate zone. It is an important wintering and breeding ground for birds traveling along the East Asian–Australasian Flyway and the West Pacific Flyway. CGTN's Liu Xiaoxian follows the staff there and finds out what they do to "invite" more migratory birds to drop in.
