China and five Central Asian nations, namely Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, have long worked together as partners to address regional security threats. Their efforts have also been conducted within multilateral frameworks such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia.
