In a joint statement marking 30 years of ties between China and the five Central Asian countries last year, it noted fruitful cooperation in combating the "three forces" of terrorism, separatism and extremism and safeguarding regional stability. Teng Jianqun, a research fellow at the China Institute of International Studies, says that the cooperation between China and five Central Asian nations is a great example for other countries to follow.
