Chinese President Xi Jinping has held talks with visiting Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki in Beijing. The two leaders hailed 30 years of bilateral friendship and pledged to advance their countries' strategic partnership. Xi said China is ready to share with Eritrea its experience in national governance. President Afwerki spoke highly of China for putting forward its own solutions to global challenges. He Wenping, a research fellow at the Institute of West Asian and African Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, says the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) serve as a strong engine for strengthening China-Eritrea ties.
