China's senior diplomat Wang Yi has said China is willing to work with Hungary to uphold what he called true multilateralism, advance democracy in international relations and make the global governance system more just and equitable.
Wang made the remarks when meeting with Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto in Beijing on Monday. Wang said China supports Europe in achieving strategic autonomy. He said Cold War mentality and bloc confrontation are not conducive to Europe's long-term development. Szijjarto said Hungary appreciates China's plan for a political settlement of the Ukraine crisis. And he welcomed further cooperation between Europe and China as an opportunity rather than a risk.
WANG YI Director of Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission "Friendship is a two-way street. We are ready to do our utmost to understand and support Hungary's legitimate requests and aspirations to advance our mutually beneficial cooperation."
PETER SZIJJARTO Hungarian Foreign Minister "When you visited Budapest, we were speaking about the Chinese peace plan as something which is coming in the future. And now we have it. I'd like to express our wholehearted support to the implementation of the peace plan put forward by China."
