Eighty-one people were killed by Cyclone Mocha in Myanmar, with homes destroyed and people waiting for aid and support. The cyclone made landfall on Sunday, with winds of up to 200 kilometers per hour downing power pylons and smashing wooden fishing boats to splinters.

Neighboring Bangladesh also felt the brunt of the storm, which forced the closure of both its floating liquefied natural gas terminals and plunged the nation into darkness.

The leader of the Move Forward party that won Thailand's election says he is confident he will be able to form a coalition government. Pita Limjaroenrat says his party has secured an alliance with seven other parties that gives them a majority 313 votes in the lower house.

However, things are not tied up yet. The coalition is not guaranteed a government given the make up of the Thai parliament. It consists of 500 elected seats in the lower house, which the coalition has a majority in, however there are 250 unelected positions in the Senate appointed by the military. Their support is also needed to move forward with a government.

Lawmakers and citizens rallied outside Japan's House of Representatives on Tuesday to condemn the government's plan to discharge contaminated wastewater from the crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant into the sea, calling it a serious breach of contract with the public.

On the same day, Japanese citizens opposed to the government's plan submitted a petition to Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and the speaker of the House of Representatives, demanding that the government stop the discharge of nuclear-contaminated water, disclose the types and contents of radioactive elements in the water, and come up with an alternative plan as soon as possible.

India's capital Delhi saw dangerous levels of air pollution on Tuesday as a dust storm swept through the city. It also cut visibility to hazardous levels.

Bloomberg reported: "The local weather office predicted dust storms over the capital and some neighboring states. Delhi topped the global ranking of most polluted cities with an air quality index of 973, according to website IQAir, far above the 'hazardous' threshold of 300."
