The occupants of the "Bird Island" in Miyun Reservoir, Beijing's major drinking water source, have entered their breeding period. Some birds have been nesting in the woods, some laying eggs, while others have just hatched. Cormorants, herons and egrets are some of the island's regulars. This period usually lasts three months.
