China is ready to share knowledge on foreign aid and introduce international development cooperation through a new online platform titled "International Development Cooperation: China's Practice."

China's International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA) launched the new platform on Thursday with two reports focusing on China's international assistance and emergency humanitarian assistance in the fight against the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Vice Chairman of CIDCA Zhong Haidong said that China had never been absent when the world faced humanitarian crises.

“We actively carry out natural disaster emergency relief and post-disaster reconstruction, provide emergency food aid, help relevant countries curb the spread of major infectious diseases, and respond to immigration and refugee crises,” he said.

According to CIDCA data, China's emergency humanitarian assistance in response to COVID-19 is the largest in scale, widest in range and the longest in duration since the establishment of the People's Republic of China more than 70 years ago.

China provided 5,246 tonnes of medical supplies, including test kits, protective suits and face masks, to 151 countries and 13 international organizations.

Zhong pointed out that China would continue to build the high-quality Belt and Road Initiative, fully implement its Global Development Initiatives, carry out emergency humanitarian assistance, and strengthen international exchanges and cooperation in foreign aid.

“We are willing to work with other countries to make unremitting efforts to realize the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations and build a community with a shared future for mankind,” he added.

Zhao Changwen, director of the China International Development Knowledge Center, was also among the launch attendees.

The event was also attended by the ambassadors of Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Syria and the Republic of the Congo as well as representatives of the World Food Program in China.

Madagascar's ambassador to China, Robinson Jean Louis, said that Madagascar is among the developing countries that have received help from China to fight the pandemic.

“CIDCA has led and coordinated China's foreign aid, which has benefited almost every developing country in the world, including the African continent and my country Madagascar,” Ambassador Louis said at the event.

“Madagascar has received more than 300,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines and other medical equipment from China.”

“China has stood out as an exemplary case of humanity in the wake of the COVID pandemic, something, I believe, was felt out throughout the world, North and South. We all remember the geopolitics of COVID,” said Syrian Ambassador Muhammad Hassanein Khalil Khaddam.

The ambassadors said they would continue to work on strengthening cooperation with China and promote the Belt and Road Initiative, implement the Global Development Initiatives and create a better future for the peaceful development of mankind.

"International Development Cooperation: China's Practice" is led by the China International Development Cooperation Agency and supported by the China International Development Knowledge Center. New reports on China's foreign aid and international development cooperation concepts, policies, practical results and prospects will be published on the website in the future.
