Editor's Note: The China-Central Asia summit in Xi'an on May 18 and 19 will offer a new blueprint for relations as Chinese President Xi Jinping will chair the summit and deliver an important speech on China's relations with the region. In this edition of Leaders Talk, Wang Guan traveled with his team to Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, ahead of the summit, and sat with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to discuss relations with China and issues of mutual concern in Central Asia. President Tokayev talks about the "eternal friendship" between China and Kazakhstan and categorically rejects the "China threat" narrative in the West. He praises China's global initiatives and expects more cooperation and exchanges between the two countries.
