With the relation between China and the five Central Asian countries (C5) being elevated to a higher level at the first ever China-Central Asia Summit, some critics are saying that China's influence is taking over the region. Uzbekistan's former Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov tells CGTN's Wang Guan that the Central Asia region has been influenced by China for over 2,000 years since the time of the Silk Road. Today's partnership between China and Central Asia is based on "mutual benefits, mutual trust and mutual respect," which can be proved by data. Results weigh more than the "China influence" narrative, he notes.
