Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday sent a congratulatory message to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, the rotating president of the Council of the Arab League, on the convening of the 32nd Arab League (AL) summit in Saudi Arabia's Jeddah.

In his letter, Xi noted that the AL has long been committed to promoting the unity and self-improvement of the Arab world and promoting peace, stability and development in the Middle East.

President Xi said he is glad to see that Arab countries continue to take new steps and achieve new results on the road to unity and self-reliance.

Noting Saudi Arabia is an important force in the multipolar world, Xi expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia's positive contributions to strengthening the unity and cooperation of Arab countries and maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East.

He also hailed the everlasting friendship between China and Arab states, stressing that in recent years, the strategic partnership between the two sides has continued to develop and achieve fruitful results, becoming a model of South-South cooperation and mutual benefit.

Last December, the first China-Arab States Summit was successfully held in Riyadh, where Chinese and Arab leaders agreed to build a China-Arab community with a shared future for the new era, Xi recalled.

He said the summit was a milestone in Sino-Arab relations, adding that it strengthened China-Arab solidarity and cooperation, contributed to the rejuvenation of their respective nations, promoted regional peace and development, and safeguarded international justice.

Looking at the future, Xi said China is willing to work with Arab countries to carry forward the spirit of Sino-Arab friendship, implement the results of the first China-Arab States Summit, build a higher level of Sino-Arab strategic partnership, and continue to write a new chapter of Sino-Arab friendship.
