Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong on Sunday summoned Japanese Ambassador to China Hideo Tarumi to lodge representations over the G7 Hiroshima Summit.

It has been reported that the G7 leaders' communique and other documents adopted by the summit hosted by Japan contain comments designed to hype up China-related issues, including comments on the situation in the Taiwan Straits and accusations regarding the East China Sea, the South China Sea, Hong Kong, Xinjiang, Xizang and China's nuclear power, and professed G7 opposition to any unilateral attempts to change the status quo and claims about "economic coercion" that allude to China.

According to a statement issued by the Chinese Foreign Ministry Sunday night, Sun said Japan, the rotating presidency of the G7, has colluded with other countries in smearing and attacking China, and grossly interfering in China's internal affairs.

That violates the basic principles of international law and the spirit of the four political documents between China and Japan, and undermines China's sovereignty, security and development interests, said Sun.

"The Chinese side is strongly dissatisfied, and resolutely opposes it," he said.

Noting that the Taiwan question is at the core of China's core interests, the Chinese diplomat said that it is a matter that concerns the political foundation of China-Japan relations, and a red line that cannot be crossed.

Hong Kong, Xinjiang and Xizang are China's internal affairs that brook no interference from external forces, said Sun.

Noting the stability in the East China Sea and the South China Sea, he said the so-called "changing of the status quo with strength" is a departure from the fact.

Sun also rejected accusations of "economic coercion" and "debt trap," and said the United States is the initiator of breaking the international order and rules and disrupting the running of the world economy.

China is firmly committed to a defensive nuclear strategy, he said. It has honored its pledge to "no first use" of nuclear weapons and always kept its nuclear capabilities at the minimum level required by national security.

"China is the only one among the five nuclear weapon states to have made those pledges," Sun underscored.

"We urge the G7 members to stop ganging up to form exclusive blocs, stop containing and bludgeoning other countries, stop creating and stoking bloc confrontation," he said.

The Japanese side should correct its perception of China, grasp its strategic autonomy, adhere to the principles of the four political documents between China and Japan, and truly promote the stable development of China-Japan relations with a constructive stance, he urged.
