Located in the downtown area, East West Street was originally a residential community for politicians and wealthy families of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Over time, the community attracted many residents to build their own houses there, expanding the area consisting of several small lanes. Through several renovations, East West Street's many ancient buildings were restored to retain the architectural style of the Qing Dynasty. It reopened to the public in 2016.
