The greening of the BRI has made extensive progress and generated a huge sense of optimism especially after China stopped all overseas coal investment and developed alternative clean energy, says Erik Solheim, convener of BRIGC Advisory Committee and former UN Under-Secretary-General. He says he was stunned when he got on the China-built Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway in Kenya. He praises the project as green, well-functioning and transformative for Kenyans while preserving the country's rich biodiversity along the way.
