Team China won all 11 fixtures they played at the ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals in Durban, South Africa on Monday.

In the men's singles, top-ranked Fan Zhendong overcame Greek veteran Panagiotis Gionis 4-1 after receiving a first-round bye.

Following a dominant start with two games leading 11-4, 11-4, Fan lost the third game 11-9 to the 43-year-old veteran. He quickly regained his composure to take the subsequent two games 11-2, 11-8.

"It's been a while since we last competed, so preparation is crucial on my end. Regardless of how well you prepare, you need to be able to handle spins," Fan said after the match. 

Olympic champion Ma Long clinched a straight-game victory over Canadian Eugene Wang. Liang Jingkun beat Japan's Maharu Yoshimura 4-1.

In the women's singles, top-ranked Sun Yingsha secured a 4-0 victory against Amelie Solja of Austria, as she also won two doubles matches the same day. Olympic champion Chen Meng demonstrated her prowess with a 4-0 victory over Thailand's Jinnipa Sawettabut.

Six Chinese pairs progressed to the last-16 stage in the three doubles events, with two pairs in each.

In the women's doubles, Sun Yingsha and Wang Manyu secured a 3-0 win against Indian duo Sreeja Akula and Diya Parag Chitale. Chen Meng and Wang Yidi, who only started to pair up recently, defeated Adina Diaconu and Maria Xiao from Romania.

In the mixed doubles, Sun and Wang Chuqin rallied to a 3-1 win against Poland's Marek Badowski and Natalia Bajor. Lin Shidong and Kuai Man defeated Slovak pair Jakub Zelinka and Tatiana Kukulkova 3-1.

In the men's doubles, Fan Zhendong and Wang Chuqin beat Kirill Gerassimenko and Alan Kurmangaliyev of Kazakhstan 3-0. Lin Gaoyuan and Lin Shidong bested Lubomir Pistej and Jakub Zelinka of Slovakia in straight games. 

The International Table Tennis Federation competition runs from May 20 to 28 with five gold medals on offer.
