Russia says it has pushed back Ukrainian fighters it claims launched a cross-border attack in its western region of Belgorod. Ukraine has denied involvement. Zhang Xin, associate professor with the School of Politics and International Relations at East China Normal University, says that if Ukraine was responsible for the attack, it may have been with the aim of luring Russian troops away from the battlefield for a possible counter-offensive.
