Japanese protesters rally against bill for defense spending boost

A group of Japanese protesters rallied in Tokyo on Tuesday to protest against the adoption of a bill by Japan's lower house earlier in the day for securing funds for the planned defense spending boost, voicing their opposition to the country's growing military buildup.

In March, Japan's parliament enacted a record 114.38 trillion yen ($874.77 billion) budget for fiscal 2023, including a whopping 6.82 trillion yen ($52.15 billion) in defense spending.
