Chinese President Xi Jinping urged further boosting science and technology and building Zhongguancun, a technology park in Beijing's Haidian District, into a world-leading science and technology hub in a congratulatory letter to the 2023 Zhongguancun Forum, which opened on Thursday in Beijing.

Xi said in the letter that as the world is experiencing a new round of technological and industrial revolution, international cooperation, openness and sharing are more important than ever for mankind to overcome common challenges of global development.

China is committed to a win-win strategy of opening-up and is willing to work with other countries to promote scientific and technological innovation to bring more benefits to people of all countries, Xi said.

He stressed that Beijing enjoys strong advantages in education, science and technology, as well as human resources. It should promote innovation in institutions, science and technology, continue to push forward the reform of Zhongguancun, and accelerate to build it into a world-leading science and technology hub, which takes the lead in cutting-edge technologies and industries, Xi added.

Founded in 2007, the Zhongguancun Forum has become an international platform for exchanges and cooperation relating to scientific and technological innovation.

This year's forum will last for six days under the theme of "Open Cooperation for a Shared Future." It has attracted guests from more than 80 countries and regions, and over 150 activities will be held during the gathering, including exhibitions of cutting-edge technologies.
