On U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen's implication and concerns about the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and China's "economic coercion," former Romanian Prime Minister Adrian Nastase said that statement is a compliment to the BRI, a way of saying the BRI is too successful. In many cases, the U.S. puts real pressure on other countries through international organizations. But when China tries to get some counterbalance measures, they say that is "economic coercion."
