U.S. President Joe Biden declared that a major disaster exists in the territory of Guam and ordered federal aid to supplement territory and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by Typhoon Mawar that started on May 22, according to a White House statement on Thursday.

Much of the small Pacific island was left without power and running water after Typhoon Mawar packing ferocious winds and torrential rains battered the U.S. territory.
