The Miao, Yao and Dong ethnic groups living in the southern part of China celebrate Wufan – literally meaning "black rice" – Festival on the eighth day of the fourth month of the traditional Chinese calendar.
The ethnic groups use different tree leaves to dye the rice black. The food item is believed to strengthen the spleen and stomach and keep people fit and healthy.
