Two ancient shipwrecks, probably from the mid-Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), filled with Ming-era porcelain and stacked timber, were discovered in October 2022 with the "Deep Sea Warrior" manned submersible and the "Exploration One" ship, according to information released by the National Cultural Heritage Administration (NCHA) of China. Chinese archaeologists said the two shipwrecks are relatively well preserved, and house a vast number of cultural relics. An in-depth study on the two-way exchanges along the Maritime Silk Road in ancient times is expected to be conducted with the relics.
