Onshore wind turbine with world's largest impeller diameter rolls off production line in China
00:45

An onshore wind turbine with the largest impeller diameter in the world rolled off the production line in northeast China's Daqing City on Friday. The impeller diameter is over 230 meters long, which equals the combined wingspan of 3.6 Boeing 747 jets. Its maximum sweeping area is 42,000 square meters, the equivalent of six standard football fields. A single unit can generate 21 kilowatt-hours of electricity per revolution at full wind speed, which is expected to produce more than 35 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity a year on average.
