Brain-Computer Interfaces, or BCI, are a hot topic at the tech-focused Zhongguancun Forum in Beijing. The industry has generated a lot of hype, since American entrepreneur Elon Musk made some bold claims about his BCI firm Neuralink: claims from potentially melding human consciousness with AI to users being able to "save and replay memories" or telepathically summon their car. Will BCIs ever be capable of these? Our reporter interviewed Mohamad Sawan, a fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, and an expert in the field.
