China congratulates Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his re-election, and supports Türkiye in taking a development path suited to its national conditions, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Monday.
"It is hoped that under President Erdogan's leadership, Türkiye will continue to make new achievements in its development," said Mao Ning, a spokesperson for the ministry, at a regular press briefing.
China attaches great importance to China-Türkiye relations, Mao said, adding that bilateral cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful results under the guidance of the two heads of state.
China is willing to work with Türkiye to push China-Türkiye strategic cooperative relations to new heights, Mao said.
Erdogan was declared the winner of the presidential election on Sunday, giving him another five years in office.
