Female giant panda Ya Ya returned to Beijing Zoo at 12:43 a.m. Beijing Time on Monday after being quarantined in Shanghai, according to the National Forestry and Grassland Administration.
Ya Ya's health is in stable condition, said the administration. Ya Ya arrived in Shanghai from the United States on April 27 and began the quarantine period for infection prevention and control. Considering her age and the change in living environment, Beijing Zoo has selected experienced keepers to accompany Ya Ya 24 hours a day for health monitoring. Shanghai Zoo had also provided all-round support and guarantee to effectively maintain the safety and health of Ya Ya.

Beijing Zoo has prepared a special place for Ya Ya, as well as a series of medical and rearing programs. Given her advanced age, Beijing Zoo will cancel public viewing of the panda and prioritize her rest while she adapts to her new environment after returning to Beijing. In the meantime, the zoo will regularly update information about Ya Ya through its social media account.
