For a long time, the U.S. has frequently deployed aircraft and vessels for close-in reconnaissance on China, which poses a serious danger to China's national sovereignty and security, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said on Wednesday.
Mao Ning, the spokesperson, urged the U.S. to stop such dangerous provocations, saying China will continue to take necessary measures to resolutely defend its sovereignty and security.
Mao's remarks were made after a Chinese fighter jet intercepted a U.S. military plane over the South China Sea, forcing the U.S. RC-135 plane to fly through its wake turbulence. The maneuver occurred last week.
