An article by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Chinese modernization under the leadership of the CPC, will be published on Thursday.

The article by Xi, also the Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, will be published in this year's eleventh issue of the Qiushi Journal, a flagship magazine of the CPC Central Committee.

The article stresses the leading role of the CPC in Chinese modernization, saying Chinese modernization is socialist modernization under the leadership of the CPC, and the leadership of the Party decides the direction and destiny of Chinese modernization.

The leadership of the Party determines the fundamental nature of Chinese modernization, reads the article, adding that only by adhering to the CPC leadership and the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics can Chinese modernization advance on the right track.

It emphasizes that seeking happiness for the Chinese people and achieving the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is the Party's mission, and building a modern socialist country is the Party's consistent goal. At the 20th CPC National Congress, the Party clearly outlined China's development goals and requirements by 2035 and mapped out a blueprint for building China into a great modern socialist country and promoting national rejuvenation.

It also stresses the importance of reform and opening up, saying these are keys to determining the fate of China and Chinese modernization. Since the 18th CPC National Congress, the Party has comprehensively deepened reform and removed various institutional problems, which has injected powerful impetus into Chinese modernization, says the article.

Moreover, it says that the Chinese people are the mainstay of Chinese modernization, so it's a must to rely on the people and pool wisdom and strength from them to push forward Chinese modernization. It adds that the CPC adheres to a people-centered development philosophy and develops a whole-process people's democracy so that all people can enjoy the fruits of Chinese modernization and can manage state affairs through various channels per the law.
