Zhang Weiwei, director of the China Institute at Shanghai Fudan University, says the key difference in development between China and the West is that the Western approach is based on "divide and rule." China advocates a "unite and prosper" approach both at home and abroad, an idea epitomized by the Belt and Road Initiative. He said China's ideas are spreading, being understood and appreciated, as shown by the China-brokered Saudi Arabia-Iran reconciliation that triggered a chain reaction in the Middle East.
