Xi calls on students to excel in Children's Day message
02:56

International Children's Day is celebrated on June 1. To mark the occasion, China's President Xi Jinping visited a Beijing primary school, where he spent time with the staff and students. Children are the future of the motherland and the hope of the Chinese nation. That was President Xi Jinping's message to students at Beijing Yuying School on Wednesday. He urged them to excel morally, intellectually and physically.

Beijing Yuying School was established in 1948 in the town of Xibaipo in northern China's Hebei Province, which was a revolutionary base of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China at the time. Since moving to the Chinese capital in 1949, the school has played a leading role in innovation in the education system. It has inspired and introduced specialized education. With such a historical context, President Xi was the first to set foot in the school's history museum during his visit. CGTN's Cen Ziyuan reports.
