China strongly opposes NATO's repeated labeling of it as a "threat," a spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in Norway said in a statement on Saturday, referring to remarks by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg during a recent visit to Norway.
NATO claims to be a regional and defensive organization, but certain members of NATO constantly extend beyond traditional defense regions, frequently establishing close military contacts with countries in the Asia-Pacific, which results in escalating tensions, the statement added.
China urges NATO to objectively and rationally view China's development and its normal cooperation with other countries, and to stop stirring up regional conflicts and creating divisions and unrest. China will continue to inject stability into the turbulent international situation and, together with other countries, contribute to world peace, stability, and long-term security.
