Expert: U.S. government failed its primary duty to protect its people

In the U.S. capital, concerned activists and community groups gathered on Friday for National Gun Violence Awareness Day. Advocates of ending gun violence warned the epidemic of mass shootings was no longer just a public safety issue, but a public health crisis. The Gun Violence Archive says the U.S. in the year 2023 has had over 200 mass shootings, defined as an incident in which four or more people are injured or killed.
