Silver pheasants, Guangdong's official provincial bird, are found across the Greater Bay Area. As spring turns into summer, the silver pheasant ushers in the mating season. The male circles the female in a time-honored courtship ritual. Wherever she goes, he follows, until he gets the nod. They blissfully fly off to live a secluded life in the woods.
About 'Journeys in Nature': Greater Bay Area Series
Comprising Hong Kong, Macao and nine cities in south China's Guangdong Province, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is one of the largest and most populated urban areas in the world with a bustling wildlife. A crab spider has targeted a wasp, a fairy pitta mother is busy with child-rearing, and other forest residents, such as Chinese flying frogs, crab-eating mongooses and silver pheasants, are wandering along the rivers and streams while the marine creatures have their own roles to play in the undersea community.
