New life brings hope to the big family. Yet, the happiness isn't shared by all. The mother looks extremely lonely. Her baby died last night. Alone in the remote corner, she refuses to accept the fact. These stump-tailed macaques are a subspecies of the Tibetan macaque. Like other social primates, the king has the highest status and privilege in eating, mating and other activities.

About 'Journeys in Nature': Southern Anhui Series

In this series, we take you on a tour of southern Anhui, the area south of the Yangtze River in east China's Anhui Province, where the world's cultural and natural heritage, Mount Huangshan, lies. Not only magnificent and natural landscapes, but also magical species, such as the Chinese alligator and stump-tailed macaque, can be found in this area.
