The ecological environment quality of China's Yangtze River Delta demonstration zone of ecological and green integrated development in 2022 is generally good, according to a report released on Tuesday.
The report shows that in 2022, the surface water quality continued to improve in the demonstration zone, with 96.2 percent of surface water at or above Grade III in the country's five-tier water quality system. The PM2.5 density, a key indicator of air pollution, dropped 26.3 percent from 2019 to 28 micrograms per cubic meter in 2022.
The demonstration zone, inaugurated in 2019, is located in the interprovincial region of Shanghai Municipality, Jiangsu Province and Zhejiang Province in east China, covering an area of about 2,413 square kilometers.
The report collated and summarized the ecological environment monitoring data of the demonstration zone from 2019 to 2022 and analyzed and evaluated its environmental quality, such as water, air and drinking water source; ecological quality, such as aquatic life and terrestrial wildlife; and other ecological environment statuses and changing trends.
