As Japan's planned release of treated nuclear wastewater into the Pacific Ocean draws near despite neighboring countries' protests, authorities have completed another step in the wastewater's release process. National broadcaster NHK said the Fukushima nuclear plant began diverting seawater on Monday into an underwater tunnel built for the nuclear-contaminated water to pass through into the ocean.
