U.S. North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum on Wednesday filed paperwork to run for president, according to his announcement published in the Wall Street Journal.

"We need new leadership to unleash our potential," the two-term Republican governor wrote in an editorial in The Wall Street Journal.

On the same day, former Vice President Mike Pence also formally announced his entry into the 2024 United States presidential election, two days after he filed the paperwork for his bid for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

"I'll always be proud of the progress we made together for a stronger and more prosperous America," Pence said in his campaign video, challenging his former boss Donald Trump for the Republican presidential nomination.
