On April 7, 2022, a stranded, gravely injured dolphin was spotted at Qizi Bay in the west of Hainan Island. Local fire department workers and marine specialists rushed to the scene to transport the animal to a local rescue station. They named it Chess after the bay, the name of which means "chess" in Chinese. After 11 months of intensive care, Chess was nursed back to health and released back into the sea. Chess's journey back home is truly a touching story and a miracle of life.
