On June 5, Japan started to send seawater into an underwater tunnel built to release contaminated wastewater from the Fukushima plants into the ocean without any prior announcement. Protesters on Wednesday gathered in front of the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) headquarters to protest against the plan.
