The Friday night siege of a hotel in the Somali capital Mogadishu has ended and security forces have successfully neutralized the al-Shabab militants responsible for it, state news agency SONNA and state TV SNTV announced, without specifying casualty figures.
"A large number of civilians were rescued during the operation," SONNA added.
The attack on the popular Pearl Restaurant in a beach hotel happened early on Friday evening. Al Qaeda-linked al Shabaab said it was behind the attack.
Abdikadir Abdirahman, the director of Aamin Ambulance Services, said they had so far received seven people who had been wounded.
