The opening ceremony for the 25th Shanghai International Film Festival was held Friday with hundreds of high-profile celebrities in attendance. This year marks the 30th anniversary of its launch. The opening gala night began with Chen Kaige, Chow Yun-fat and Michelle Yeoh paying tribute to the film festival’s 30-year history. After it was cancelled last year due to COVID-19, SIFF is staging a big comeback with the global premieres of some highly anticipated films and various workshops, masterclasses and forums.
