Legendary bot laner Jian "Uzi" Zihao of the video game League of Legends has joined Edward Gaming (EDG) of Chinese mainland's League of Legends Pro League (LPL), the team announced on Sina Weibo on Saturday.

Widely considered as the most dominant AD carry of all time in his prime, Jian spent most of his career in Royals Never Give Up (RNG). He reached his career summit in 2018 when he first led RNG to win the Mid-Season Invitational title and then won the first League of Legends gold medal on behalf of China in the Asian Games in Indonesia.

Having retired in June 2020, Uzi came back for the first time in December 2021 by joining Bilibili Gaming (BLG), but didn't make many appearances before "disconnecting" with the team in June 2022.

While Uzi was playing for RNG, his side had a long-time rivalry with EDG. The two teams met in the LPL Spring Season Finals and Summer Finals in 2016, the LPL Spring semifinals and Summer Finals in 2017, as well as the LPL Spring Finals in 2018. RNG have won three of those five series.

Therefore, Uzi's arrival at EDG will again spice up the forgotten rivalry between the two teams. RNG's current bot laner Li "LP" Fei began to play in the LPL from August 2021 with LNG Esports and didn't join RNG until May.

EDG started the LPL Summer Season with a 1-2 record and were disappointed at their bot laner Hu "Leave" Hongchao. Signing Uzi is only part of their solution to the problem. They also promoted Kang "Thesnake" Guang from the second team in the bot laner position.

EDG will play JD Gaming (JDG) on Saturday night. Uzi is not listed as the team's starting players. There is no confirmation if he will compete against JDG.
