This year marks the 10th anniversary of the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). It aims to build trade and infrastructure networks connecting Asia with Europe and beyond along the ancient Silk Road trade routes for common development and prosperity. As a new model for international cooperation, the BRI has shown its vitality and resilience in promoting global development through openness, inclusiveness, mutual benefits and sustainability.
How much do overseas youth know about the ancient Silk Road? How do they view this initiative? CGTN hit the campus of Tsinghua University to find out. Eakvixay Tran, a student of social science from Laos, took the China-Laos Railway as an example of the role China has played in building the BRI. "China is basically creating a route for landlocked countries like Laos to trade," he said.
