Analyst: Russia's expansion of armed forces a response to threat from NATO

NATO is set to begin the largest air exercise since the alliance's founding in 1949. Dubbed Air Defender 2023, the exercise is scheduled from June 12 to June 23 across Germany. Russian authorities last week announced an expansion of its army and navy this year. Professor Teng Jianqun, director of the Center for Diplomatic Studies at Hunan Normal University, says Russia's expansion of armed forces is a response to threat from NATO.
