Bayern Munich have made two plans for their French center-back Lucas Hernandez: offering him a contract extension with a better salary or moving him to another club on a transfer in return for something. Either way, the Bundesliga powerhouse won't let him go for free in 2024 summer.

Bayern paid 80 million euros (about $86 million) to land Hernandez from Atletico Madrid in July 2019. He has made 102 appearances for the club and won four Bundesliga titles, one DFB-Pokal and one UEFA Champions League title among other honor.

According to Sport Bild, Bayern value Hernandez at 50 million euros (about $53.8 million) and offered him a four-year deal. The club will talk to him next week, before he goes on vocation. Paris Saint-Germain want to acquire him and may push Hernandez to make a change, Fabrizio Romano reported.

Hernandez only makes part of the issues Bayern face in their backline because his teammate Benjamin Pavard also seeks to leave the club. Sport Bild revealed that Pavard's agent already told the club that he wants to go and is already in talks with multiple clubs including Liverpool, Barcelona, Chelsea, AC Milan and Inter Milan.

Bayern paid VfB Stuttgart 35 million euros (about $37.6 million) to sign Pavard in July 2019. He plays more in the right-back position, scoring 12 goals and 12 assists for the club in 162 games. Bayern will agree to let him leave for 30 million euros (about $32.3 million).

Bayern finished the 2022-23 season by winning their record 11th straight Bundesliga title, but the losses in both the Champions League and the DFB-Pokal exposed their problems in both the front and the back lines.

Bayern are likely the richest club in Bundesliga and attractive to many players who want new challenges on a bigger stage. However, as Real Madrid try to complete a rebuild quickly and the rise of Newcastle United with their deep pocket, Bayern will face tougher competitions than usual on the transfer market.
